Our school meals are provided by Chartwells Catering.
Breakfast is available before school and snacks are available at break time. At lunchtime there is a choice of hot meals (you can download the full Canteen Menu), sandwiches, pizza slices, pasta pots, jacket potatoes and salad. A typical school lunch (main meal, drink and dessert) costs £2.10. As a consequence of the Government increase to the National Minimum Wage, Chartwells, is having to increase the price of the daily ‘Meal Deal’ by 10p, from £2.00 to £2.10 from Monday 18th April 2016. Pupils can spend a maximum of £4 per day on their account, this will increase to £5 per day after Christmas 2015. This amount can be amended by contacting the academy.
Paying for Meals
We operate a cashless system using pupils' thumb to access their account and pay for food. Pupils' accounts can be topped up by parents using Parent Pay or by pupils (with cash) using the machines on site.
Free School Meals
Free school meal eligibility is assessed by Hull City Council. You can find out whether your child is eligible for free school meals by going to the Hull City Council Website. There is no cost to applying. Applying is confidential and students who receive free school meal get their account topped up by the academy up to the value of a meal deal each day. As we use a cashless system we are able to operate a very discreet free school meal (FSM) service.
Year 10 and Year 11 Students
Students in years 10 and 11 (KS4) are able to leave the premises at lunch time. Students can purchase a swipe card which gives them exit and entry to the academy. This is a privilege and can be revoked at any time. Whilst off site students should behave in an acceptable manner. If parents/carers do not want their son/ward to leave the site at lunchtime please contact the academy.
Students in years 7, 8 and 9 (KS3) are not allowed off the premises at lunchtime.
